SYSTEM PLANNING
ECE’s System Planning Department helps utilities make informed, data-driven decisions through system modeling, load forecasting, and strategic infrastructure planning.
ECE’s planners use advanced modeling tools (Milsoft WindMil®, Eaton CYME) to simulate and evaluate the performance of existing and proposed electrical systems. We develop long-term work plans and studies to address system growth, reliability, and distributed generation integration. Typical studies include load forecasting, voltage regulation, sectionalizing, loss analysis, power-factor correction, and renewable interconnection evaluations.
The department’s experience with both cooperatives and municipalities allows them to provide recommendations that balance engineering precision, financial feasibility, and regulatory compliance.
ECE’s System Planning team works closely with the Protection, Transmission, and Distribution departments to ensure recommended upgrades align technically and operationally. This holistic approach enables clients to allocate capital effectively and sustain long-term reliability goals.
The Value ECE Provides
Accurate system modeling for data-driven planning and capital budgeting.
Identification of weak points and opportunities for efficiency improvement.
Integration of distributed generation and renewable energy sources.
Reduction in system losses and improved voltage stability.
Long-term reliability improvement and regulatory compliance.
