Hwy 53 to Shaw Hwy 115kV Transmission Line Rebuild

ECE completed the upgrade of the Hwy 53 to Shaw Hwy 115kV transmission line, a project that involved upgrading a 69kV transmission line to 115kV specifications. This 4.5-mile line feeds two of Four County EMC’s substations and now boasts improved reliability and reduced outage times thanks to the installation of G&W’s Viper HV Reclosers.
Key Highlights:
- Utilized cutting-edge tools like PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, CAISSON, and AutoCAD.
- Enhanced system reliability with upgraded equipment and new HV reclosers.
- Reduced outage times and minimized power loss for Four County EMC members.
This was the first time a Viper HV Recloser was installed in North Carolina, marking a significant milestone for our team and Four County EMC.
